defend our nation, a generation who fought in iraq and who still fight in afghanistan. let us rededicate our own lives to the cause of giving back to our great nation. for as one of our nation's leaders said, the strength of our democracy has always rested on the willingness of those who believe in its values and in their will to serve, to give something back to this country. and now it's my privilege to introduce you to the man who spoke those words and who lives them every day, our secretary of defense, leon panetta. like 9/11. against the backdrop of the things like the afghan war and the iraq war. this was what we started out doing back in 2008. and in the process, we put out something like 300 plus requests for interviews and we've done over more than 125 interviews with people from the government, former officials, the military, the intelligence community. and come up with some very interesting ideas and thoughts from them about some things we knew about and some things we did not. >> what can you share with us? >> i can share with you that one thing that's very clear at this point, some of the people and the threats that were threats four years ago are gone. dead. out of the picture. but they've been replaced by other threats. for example, osama bin laden is gone and al-awlaki is gone. but the threat of international terrorism is still a problem but not so much when you start looking at domestic terrorism. the lone wolf syndrome that a lot of people are worried about. ie the colorado shootings and others that have taken place over the course of the years. there's also china. there's also ris

my son? he is back from iraq and he and his buddy just want to sit in the rec room at the va. i can't get them out. i went and visited with them on my way back to the airport in des moines that day, and when i met with them, they didn't want to go out. that reminded me of when i lost my sight as a 16-year-old, that's all i wanted to do, sit in my room. my buddies helped me out that night and we need to do the same thing and get out there and do something. >> it's turned into mentoring programs around the country. in fact, actually, we have a couple going on today, one at the fbi as we speak that you have about a dozen people at? >> a little more, yeah. we're excited we have wounded warriors and two different fbi locations, 12, 14 of them. >> reporter: joshua, you yourself as i mentioned a little bit ago, you came in touch with the organization after you were coming back from iraq yourself. explain a little bit about your disability, what happened there and how you got in touch with enable america. >> absolutely. i was stationed at fort campbell and we deployed from 2007 to 2009

also were wounded in iraq and you have kind of a goal here to employ and hire wounded warriors and veterans that work on the app with you? >> yes. so, you know, last year i was wounded in iraq and ended up in walter reed and have been part of the wounded transition unit, the warrior transition unit since then. i just think that wounded warriors just, you know, soldiers in general have an affinity for sports. and, you know, if you can't be a part of it the way that you used to before your injuries, maybe being a part of yellowflag will give them one way that they can be interacting with sports. as we gain popularity, we absolutely want to get to the point where we can hire veterans and wounded warriors to be part of our company and help us succeed. >> reporter: great. really great to meet you guys. love what you're doing. i love the app. it's very cool to look at and keeping the scores and information on players along with the fun. so thank you so much for coming in. best of luck to you. hope everything works out. >> thanks for having us. absolutely. >> reporter: send it back to you

bomb has killed four children in iraq's western province. the bomb exploded monday morning near a primary school 85 miles west of baghdad. it injured six children as well. it went off as a police patrol passed by yesterday. it happened to be the first day of school there. at the live desk, melissa mollet, news 4. >>> new this morning, fire crews trying to figure out what caused a house fire in temple hills. firefighters responded to the block of toby drive around 2:15 this morning. crews able to control the flame. everyone got out. fairfax county leaders holding the first of several public meetings to pay for much needed transportation projects. to pay for the improvements. tonight's meeting will take place at the west springfield office on rolling road. it begins at 7:00. there will be several more meetings in the coming weeks. >>> montgomery county leaders will also discuss their transportation needs. >>> the maryland public service commission will talk about restoring power in the first 24 hours of a power outage. the commission will discuss whether utilities will be banned fro

in iraq. a suicide bomber killed four iraqis with a car bomb near the green zone in baghdad. that explosion happened during the morning rush at the gates of the heavily fortified area. most government offices and embassies, several of them are in that area. no one has claimed responsibility as of yet. we're also on top of breaking news out of afghanistan. the latest country where protesters are staging a violent anti-american protest. it's under way in kabul. news 4's angie goff in the news room with the latest developments. >>> protesters are stoning officers with rocks and have attacked western compounds outside the capital city. police are firing shots into the air, trying to push back an angry mob of protesters. a group of about 800 away from the city. this after hundreds continue to burn cars, throw rocks. 20 officers already have been hurt. the wave of violence in many muslim countries was fueled from those angered by a film made in the u.s. that mocks the prophet muhammad. after a violent sunday in pakistan, where two people died, things are even worse this morning. hundred
